Bhubaneswar: An alleged drug mafia, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar after being shot at by unidentified miscreants, succumbed to injuries.
According to sources, Somnath Bhujbal alia Paku, a known brown sugar dealer of Khurda, was critically injured in the firing incident that took place on the night of June 7. He succumbed to injuries during treatment.
Somnath was standing near Thengahat Chhak in Samantraypur area when unidentified miscreants from a van opened fire at him. He sustained grievous bullet injuries on his back, stomach and shoulder.
Locals rescued him and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital in Khurda. He was later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated. However, he succumbed to bullet injuries.
Investigation into the incident is being conducted by the police. It may be noted here that the property of the drug dealer had earlier been attached by the police, sources said.
