Balasore: A drunk man allegedly killed his wife at their residence in Singhsahi village of Oupada block here on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Gurubari Singh. According to sources, her husband Pandu Singh came home in an inebriated condition last night and started quarrelling with Gurubari over a trivial matter.
Enraged with the woman’s rebuke for his addiction to alcohol, Pandu started beating her mercilessly. Gurubari was hit on her head and few minutes later she succumbed, the sources added.
Villagers reported the matter to Oupada police following which a team of cops arrived at the spot and detained Pandu. A case was registered in this matter and the body of the deceased was sent for autopsy.
