Bhubaneswar: While Odisha is likely to experience dry weather conditions for 3 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain in some parts of the state from October 18.
The day temperature is likely to remain 2- 3°C above normal at a few places in the state during next 3 days, according to the midday weather bulletin.
On October 18, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm may occur at one or two places in Gajapati, Ganjam, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh. Some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorm during the subsequent 24 hours.
There will be little change in the weather conditions thereafter and both maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be near normal in Odisha from October 20 to 26, according to IMD’s extended weather outlook.
On Saturday, Bhadark had recorded the highest maximum temperature of 36.8°C in Odisha followed by Sundargarh at 36.2°C. Light to moderate rainfall also occurred at one or two places in Balangir, Cuttack, Bargarh and Khurda, it added.
The weather agency also informed about likely formation of a low pressure area over southeast & adjoining eastcentral Arabian Sea around October 17. “A cyclonic circulation lies over lakshadweep area and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea & Kerala coast. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to develop over southeast & adjoining eastcentral Arabian Sea around October 17. It is likely to move West-northwestwards and intensify further during subsequent 48 hours.”

Isolated heavy rainfall also likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Punjab on October 16 and over Himachal Pradesh on October 15-16.
Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over Kerala on October 15-16.
Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during October 15-19.
