Bhubaneswar: A duplicate cigarette manufacturing unit was unearthed and sealed by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Info Valley Police on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to sources, the factory was running at Alakar village under Chhatabar panchayat which was manufacturing duplicate cigarettes under the brand name H-10, and H-Star.
According to IB officials, H-10 is a top cigarette company based in Bihar. The fake unit owner had been using substandard materials and manufacturing cigarettes under this brand name.
The owner of the Bihar-based cigarette company had lodged a complaint with the IB in this regard, said sources.
During the raid, cigarettes, and gutkha worth lakhs of rupees were seized. The factory owner identified as Raja Rao, a resident of Ganjam, was apprehended.
