Bhadrak: Police busted a fake tobacco manufacturing unit and arrested two persons in this connection in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday.
According to police sources, the illegal unit, located at Helasahi in the two under Puruna Bazaar police station, was manufacturing ‘zarda’ (tobacco) of reputed brands. Following information from reliable sources about the unit, a team from the police station conducted a raid on the day.
During the raid, the police seized duplicate tobacco worth around Rs 65 lakh from the unit. They also seized fabricated logos of different brands, a sticker machine and other items.
The police arrested two persons for running the illegal unit and forwarded them to court. The accused were operating the illegal racket for the last several years, the police sources said. Further investigation is on to ascertain involvement of any other persons, they added.
