Bhubaneswar: Despite government restrictions on community celebration and extended night curfew during Dussera, the capital city continued to report over 200 daily COVID caseload.
As many as 216 persons tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours though the cases had dropped to 184 on Wednesday from 234 on Tuesday. There were 159 cases each on Monday and Sunday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 85 of the new patients on the day are from quarantine and 131 local contacts.
Of the local contacts, maximum 7 cases were reported from Nayapalli, followed by 6 each from Old Town, Patia and Jayadurga Nagar and 5 from Chandrasekharpur.
As many as 196 patients recovered from the disease while the number of deceased due to COVID went upto 1,041 with two more deaths reported during the period.
The active cases stood at 3,654 while total 1,15,419 people have been infected by the virus so far.
