Bhubaneswar: The e-KYC verification process for ration card holders in Odisha is expected to be completed in next 15 to 20 days, informed Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Saturday.
Minister Patra revealed that over 2.30 crore e-KYC verifications have been successfully while 1 crore are being verified. Upon the completion of the process, new ration cards will be issued to all eligible beneficiaries, he said.
Highlighting the significance of the e-KYC initiative, Patra stated that it will help filter out ineligible individuals from the list of beneficiaries, ensuring that the scheme supports those who genuinely need assistance.
Patra expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Centre’s decision to extend the supply of free fortified rice under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) until 2028.
“Odisha, in alignment with the Centre’s decision, will continue providing free fortified rice under its state-run scheme as well,” the Minister added.
