Bhubaneswar: The skylines in Bhubaneswar along with cities in over 190 countries globally will once again go dark for an hour from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on Saturday to observe the Earth Hour.
The Energy Department has urged the people of Odisha to join the global communities and switch off their electrical appliances and non-essential lighting fixtures during this period for ‘Mother Earth’.
An initiative of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF, Earth Hour started in 2007 and since being observed on the last Saturday of March every year. This year’s theme is ‘Shape Our Future’.
By taking part in Earth hour, people show their support for climate change as switching off the lights for one hour can make a substantial difference in energy consumption and help reduce the effect of global warming on the planet.
