Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission (EC) that had announced the date for the by-election to the Bijepur Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Bargarh district will come up with a gazette notification on Tuesday.
To ensure free and fair elections, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has taken up all possible measures.
As per the voters’ list finalised by the CEO, a total of 2,21,144 voters will exercise their franchise.
For the first time, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be used in the Bijepur by-poll.
As per the announcement made by the EC on January 23, the last date of filing nomination is February 6 while verification of nomination papers will be held on February 7. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 9.
The counting of votes will be held on February 28 and the results would be announced on the same day.
The election process would be completed by March 3.
