Bhubaneswar: After attaching the properties of former Dhenkanal RTO Basanta Kumar Behera in a disproportionate assets case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed chargesheet in Bhubaneswar Special Court.
The ED had launched investigation on the basis of an FIR filed by Cuttack Police under Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code against Behera for possession of disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.97 crore.
During the investigation by ED, it was revealed that the former Regional Transport Officer had accumulated properties in his name and in the name of his relatives with illegal earning from outside his known sources of income. The ED had attached the properties worth Rs 52.24 lakh of Behera under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
The Bhubaneswar Special Court has taken cognisance of the chargesheet, ED sources said on Friday.
