Mumbai: A number of Bollywood actors and singers are likely to be summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the investigation of Mahadev online betting case.
The likes of Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Bhagyashree, Neha Kakkar, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Vishal Dadlani, Elli AvrRam, Bharti Singh, Kriti Kharbanda, Krushna Abhishek and Sukhwinder Singh had attended the wedding ceremony of Mahadev Book app promoter Sourabh Chandrakar in the UAE earlier this year, India Today had reported.
A video of Chandrakar’s wedding shows Bollywood celebrities performing at the lavish event.
As per digital evidence gathered by ED, Rs 112 crore was delivered via hawala to an event management company, while payment for hotel bookings amounting to Rs 42 crore was made in cash, sources told India Today.
The app’s success party, organised by Chandrakar and another promoter Ravi Uppal last September, is also being probed. That event was also attended by a number of actors and singers, who are under ED’s scanner.
The Bollywood celebrities reportedly received cash payments for both events through hawala from event management firms.
ED has frozen and seized assets worth Rs 417 crore in connection with the Mahadev online betting case.
The company was running operations from Dubai and allegedly using the online book betting app to enrol fresh users, create user IDs and launder money through a layered web of benami bank accounts, according to ED.
