Bhubaneswar: To maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the celebrations of Holi festival on Wednesday, the Commissionerate police have made elaborate security arrangements in Odisha capital. Special measures have been taken to ensure communal harmony and contain the menace of anti-social elements.
A press release issued by the DCP stated that the Bhubaneswar police district has been split into 17 zones along with provision of mobile patrolling parties for each zone.
Moreover, night-blocking and vehicle checking will be put in place at 31 places in the state capital to keep a tab on criminals and disturbing elements.
That apart, strategic forces will be pressed into service at four major spots like AG Square, Vani Vihar Square, Damana Square and Khandagiri Square.
Police personnel will be on guard at major crowded places, traffic junctions and parking areas from 7 am till 4 pm.
Mobile patrolling teams will monitor on the movements of anti-social elements and ensure smooth traffic inside the city.
Besides, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place at bathing spots/ghats of Puri canal, Kuakhai river, Daya river, Kedargouri pond and Bindusagar. Police personnel will keep vigil on these spots from 10 am till 6 pm to prevent any untoward incident. The authorities of the Capital Hospital have been told to remain alert to deal with some medical emergencies.
DCP Pratik Singh will supervise the security arrangements. As many as four additional DCPs, seven ASPs, 28 inspectors, 57 ASIs/AASIs, 38 APR constables, 44 sections of forces and home guards will be deployed in the city, the release added.
