Elderly Woman Found With Throat Slit In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman was found with her throat slit at Khadagiri Bari Basti under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Mada Palie from Belgun in Odisha’s Ganjam district. Her daughter-in-law, Baishakhi, was found in an unconscious state inside the house and admitted to a nearby government health facility.

According to sources, Bharatpur police with a scientific team reached the spot after being alerted by local, who heard some sounds coming out of the house, and recovered the body.

Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told the media that the elderly woman was under treatment here having sustained some head injuries in Ganjam. She was bed-ridden and was living her elder son and daughter-in-law. “His son is being questioned and the investigation will carried based on their statement and evidence. We are hopefully of apprehending the culprit soon,” he added.
