Hyderabad: On a day when Congress ousted the K Chandrashekhar Rao-headed BRS government, the Election Commission of India (ECI) suspended Telangana’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar for violation of Model Code of Conduct.
Kumar, along with state police nodal officer along with Sanjay Jain, met Congress leader Revanth Reddy, the man who played a stellar role in the party’s victory in the southern state, before the results were announced.
A video posted by ANI shows Kumar greeting Reddy, who contested the assembly elections, with a bouquet of flowers.
ECI sent a letter to Telangana Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, recommending the suspension of the Telangana DGP.
According to latest numbers, Congress was winning in 64 of the 110-seat Telangana assembly, while BRS was at 39.
