Bhubaneswar: Elections to three Notified Area Councils (NACs) in Odisha would be held on April 3, the State Election Commission (SEC) said here on Tuesday.
Giving details on the poll schedule, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Naba Kumar Nayak said the elections would be held for Attabira NAC in Bargarh district, Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal district and Nuapada NAC in Nuapada district.
A total of 13205 voters of 12 wards in Attabira NAC, 9407 voters of 16 wards in Hindol NAC and 12,147 voters of 14 wards in Nuapada NAC would exercise their franchise.
As per the directive of the Election Commission (EC), the model code of conduct will come into force from Tuesday (March 6) and continue till April 5, Nayak said.
He said as per the provisions of the model code of conduct, each candidate can use maximum of two three-wheelers or four-wheelers for campaigning while the expenditure should not be beyond Rs 30,000.
On April 3, polling in these three NACs would begin at 8 AM and continue till 5 PM. The counting of votes would begin at 8 AM and results would be announced on April 5, the SEC said.
He further said the Election Officer of each NAC would issue a notification to this effect on March 9.
“The candidates can file their nomination papers between 11 AM and 3 PM from March 13 to March 17. The scrutiny of the nomination papers would be done on March 19 while the list of valid candidates would be announced on March 20. The last date of withdrawal of nomination papers and final list of candidates contesting the polls would be announced on March 22,” Nayak informed.
