Sources said that Sakshi held on to an electric pole while negotiating a puddle just outside the railway station as the road was water-logged and got a heavy jolt of current. The incident occurred near the Exit Number one of the New Delhi Railway Station.

Her sister Madhavi rushed her to the nearby Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), but the doctors announced her brought dead.

Based on the complaint of Madhavi of negligence by the authorities, a case has been registered under Sections 287 and 304 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery and causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code, police said.

Sakshi’s father Lokesh Kumar Chopra blamed the authorities of gross negligence.

Visuals at the sight of the accident showed naked live electric wire at the bottom of the pole, which might have caused the tragic incident. Based on the registered case, both railways authorities and police are probing to determine the person responsible for the negligence.
