Bhubaneswar: Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company Foxconn has reinitiate talks with the Odisha government to set up a mobile manufacturing unit in the state.
Executives from the company met Odisha Principal Secretary (industries) Sanjeev Chopra to discuss the plan that was coined two years back.
Foxconn had then announced that it would invest 5 billion dollars in a plant at a coastal location in the state. This mobile phone manufacturing unit would have created 50,000 direct and indirect jobs in the state, according to a report published in the Business Standard.
Foxconn is known as a contract manufacturer. It assembles and makes phones for Apple, Xiaomi, Nokia and many others.
