Keonjhar: Panic gripped a village in Keonjhar district after an elephant herd entered a mango orchard near Champua Jhumpura block office on Tuesday morning.
According to sources, a herd of eight elephants from a nearby forest entered the mango orchard in search of food.
Irate locals burnt tyres as the jumbos damaged the wall of a school and destroyed several business establishments.
On being informed, Forest Department officials rushed to the spot and launched an operation along with police to drive away the pachyderms, the sources added.
