Bhubaneswar: Social media platform X CEO and billionaire Elon Musk has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being the most followed leader in the world on the social media platform.
“Congratulations PM @NarendraModi on being the most followed world leader!” Musk said in a post on X.
PM Modi has 100.2 million followers on X.
Last week, PM Modi’s followers on X reached 100 million, making him the second-most followed politician in the world, after former US President Barack Obama and the most-followed global leader holding office currently.
Obama has 131.7 million followers on X. Former US President and Republican presidential nominee for the 2024 elections Donald Trump is at the third spot with more than 87 million followers on X. US President Joe Biden is a distant fourth will 38.2 million followers.
As for Modi’s political rivals in India, the likes of Rahul Gandhi (26.4 million), Arvind Kejriwal (27.5 million), Akhilesh Yadav (19.9 million), Mamata Banerjee (7.4 million), Lalu Yadav (6.3 million), Tejashwi Yadav (5.2 million) don’t add up to 100 million.
The Indian PM has more followers than sports stars like Virat Kohli (64.1 million), Neymar Jr (63.6 million) and LeBron James (52.9 million), and other popular global celebrities like Taylor Swift (95.3 million), Lady Gaga (83.1 million) and Kim Kardashian (75.2 million).
“A hundred million on X! Happy to be on this vibrant medium and cherish the discussion, debate, insights, people’s blessings, constructive criticism, and more. Looking forward to an equally engaging time in the future as well,” Modi had posted X on July 14.
Interestingly, his X handle saw an impressive growth of approximately 30 million users in the last 3 years.
