New York: Jack Dorsey has done a U-turn on Elon Musk.
A year after stating that Musk is the ‘singular solution’ to run Twitter, the co-founder and former CEO has said Musk is not the right leader for the micro-blogging site.
Criticising Musk’s leadership since the time he acquired Twitter six months ago, Dorsey said that Musk has not proved to be the right ‘steward’ for the social media platform.
Musk’s policies and sweeping changes in the company have been chaotic, to say the least. But many are attributing the sudden change in Dorsey’s stance to the fact that he has opened his own platform BlueSky, and wants to promote it as an alternative to Twitter.
Dorsey had an exchange on BlueSky, which is available to a select group of users as of now.
Asked by a user named Jason Goldman if he believed Musk had proven to be the best steward for Twitter, Dorsey answered ‘no.’
“Nor do I think he acted right after realising his timing was bad. Nor do I think the board should have forced the sale. It all went south. But it happened and we all can do now is build something to avoid that ever happening again,” Dorsey said.
Dorsey also wrote Musk should have walked away by paying 1 billion dollars to the board.
“If Elon or anyone wanted to buy the company, all they had to do was name a price that the board felt was better than what the company could do independently. This is true for every public company. Was I optimistic? Yes. Did I have final say? No. I think he should have walked away and paid the $1b,” Dorsey wrote.
