Mumbai/Dubai: Veteran actor Sridevi’s mortal remains reached Mumbai Tuesday evening, after Dubai Public Prosecution gave its clearance and shut the case after investigation. The actor’s body will be kept at Celebration Sports Club in Mumbai and the last journey will begin around 2 pm. The last rites will take place at 3:30pm.
According to reports, the actress died due to ‘accidental drowning’ after falling unconscious at a Dubai hotel. Sridevi, who had gone to Dubai with her family to attend the wedding ceremony of her nephew Mohit Marwah, died on February 24. After the wedding, the actress stayed back, while her family returned to Mumbai. Sridevi’s husband-producer Boney Kapoor, however, went back to Dubai to surprise her. After waking her up at around 5:30pm, Boney chatted with his wife for 15 minutes, after which Sridevi went to get ready for dinner. She was later found floating in the bathtub by her husband.
Initial reports of her death had mentioned ‘cardiac arrest’ as the reason. However, the air was cleared yesterday, when the post-mortem report revealed that the death occurred due to ‘accidental drowning.’
Meanwhile, the report had created controversy after several media channels and a few celebrities cited ‘foul play’ in Sridevi’s death.
