Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar, has arrested two fraudsters – Antaryami Senapati, who is an advocate-clerk by profession and the mastermind of an organised land fraud in Odisha, and his associate Ananta Kumar Pradhan.
According to an EOW release, Lipika Das of Kendrapada had lodged a complaint, alleging that her 2000 sq ft land at Vasanta Vihar at Malipada Mouza in Khurda was sold to one Haladhar Dash by someone who impersonated her before the Sub Registrar, Khandagiri.
Antaryami Senapati and his associates had fraudulently made the fake sale deed by impersonating the real owner and arranging fake witnesses. Haladhar Dash, a retired employee of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Subadha Kumar Parida and Mamata Parida were arrested last week in connection with the fraud.
Investigation revealed that Mamata managed to transfer Lipika’s land to Haladhara by executing a fraudulent sale deed, with the assistance of Subadha.
The accused also misappropriated Rs 18 lakh by selling two plots to Gitanjali Mohapatra of Erancha and her husband Brajkishore Senapati, working with CRPF, by preparing fake sale deed using forged documents and impersonating the real land owners, Sabita Sahoo of Hinjilikatu and Anil Chanrda Pattnayak of Bhanjanagar.
They defrauded Ajaya Kumar Senapati, working with Indian Army), by fraudulently selling 2600 sqft of land to him by impersonating the land owner Sarat Kumar Sanabada and making a false sale deed with help of forged documents.
They also fraudulent transferred land, belonging to one Satyabhama Das of Dimiri, Govindapur, in the name of Damayanti Das, wife of Haladhar Dash in the same manner
Three other plots of Satyabhama Das were also fraudulently sold to three other fake purchasers by creating forged documents/sale deeds and impersonating the real owner, the EOW release added.
