Bhubaneswar: A retired ARTO of Sundergarh district was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for four years and imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh in a disproportionate assets case of Odisha Vigilance.
A special Vigilance court in Sundargarh ordered that Chaitanya Charan Jena, Ex-ARTO (Retired), Unified Check Gate, Biramitrapur would undergo further rigorous imprisonment for six months in default of payment of fine.
The convict was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence, an official release said on Monday.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Jena following his conviction.
Former vigilance DSP, Rourkela division, P.K. Naik had investigated the case and Shyam Sundar Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor, Vigilance conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution, the release added.
