Bhubaneswar: Former spokesperson of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Sulochana Das joined the ruling BJD on Tuesday.
She had tweeted about quitting Congress the previous day after meeting the BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at his residence.
The BJD supremo hoped that her induction would strengthen the party in days to come.
“I quit Congress because of the sorry state of affairs following growing infighting. I am interested in working for the betterment of the people of the state under the leadership of the chief minister,” Das said after joining the regional party.
Earlier, district presidents of Congress including that of Angul, Dhenkanal and Nayagarh along with some senior leaders had resigned from the grand old party.
