Odisha Vigilance Raid On Ex-DSWO; Over Rs 1 Cr Deposits, 2Kg Silver, Multi-Storey Bldgs, Flats & Plots Unearthed

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday unearthed 3 multi-storey buildings in Balasore, 2 flats in Bhubaneswar, 4 plots, bank, postal & insurance deposits of over Rs 1.40 crore, cash worth Rs 2.79 lakh, 1 four-wheeler, along with other assets during a raid on former District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Bhadrak, Jayanti Behera, who is currently posted at W & CD Department in Bhubaneswar.

She is accused of accumulating assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The team led by one additional SP, 4 DSPs, 8 inspectors and other staff are carrying out simultaneous searches at 11 places in Bhubaneswar, Balasore and Bhadrak.

ASSETS UNEARTHED

1) A triple-storey building over plinth area 1700 sqft at Ganeswarpur, Balasore.

2) Another triple-storey building over plinth area 1400 sqft at Firingipatna, Balasore.

3) A double-storey building over plinth area 1000 sqf. at Ganeswarpur, Balasore.

4) A 3-BHK Flat at Royal Residency, Goutam Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

5) Another 3-BHK Flat at Old Town, Bhubaneswar.

6) 4 plots in prime area of Balasore.

i) A piece of land vide plot No.150, Khata No.63 of area Ac 0.18 decimal at mouza Dasi, Balasore.

ii) A piece of land vide plot No.546, Khata No.186 of area Ac 0.11373 decimal at mouza Jhagadapadhi, Balasore.

iii) A piece of land vide plot No.551, Khata No.238 of area Ac 0.09621 decimal at mouza Jhagadapadhi, Balasore.

iv) A piece of land vide plot No.103, Khata No.06/03 of area Ac 0.09621 decimal at mouza Badadeula, Balasore.

4) 2 kg silver ornaments

5) Rs 2.79 lakh in cash.

6) Bank, postal & insurance deposits of over Rs 1.40 crore

7) A four-wheeler (Maruti Baleno-Altura) & a two wheeler (Suzuki GLX).

The measurement and valuation/assessment of the building/flats/plots is being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing, a Vigilance release said adding that searches are continuing.

The raids were also conducted at Behera’s office chambers at W & CD Department, Bhubaneswar, and the office of DSWO in Bhadrak, residential rented house at Bhadrak, house of her relative located at Sunhat in Balasore, office chamber of her son Rohit Kumar Mandal, Call Centre Executive (CCE) in the office of PD, DRDA, Balasore and house of her associate (contractor and supplier of RTE Chhatua)  at Chidiapola, Balasore town.

Though Behera was relieved on June 4, she is yet to hand over the charges in Bhadrak, it added.
