Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan has been appointed the chairman of the ‘Donate For Desh’ crowdfunding campaign of the party in the state.
A proposal forwarded by PCC chief Sarat Pattanayak in this regard has been approved by the AICC which has appointed Harichandan as the chairman of ‘Donate for Desh’ campaign to make the drive a success in Odisha, party sources said.
This apart, to ensure proper supervision and management of the campaign, Harichandan has been allowed to constitute a committee by including suitable leaders.
It may be noted here that Congress has launched a ‘Donate for Desh’ campaign for fund collection in Odisha. The campaign is part of the nationwide drive launched by the grand old party.
This apart, the state unit of the grand old party is gearing up for making the forthcoming visit of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to Odisha on January 29. The PCC chief has written to the party president suggesting formation of a committee for the meeting of the Kharge in Bhubaneswar on January 29.
Pattanayak has proposed the names of several leaders, including former PCC presidents Jaydev Jena, Niranjan Patnaik & Prasad Harichandan, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Narasingha Mishra, MLA santosh Singh Saluja and former Ministers Jagannath Patnaik, Panchanan Kanungo, Ganeswar Behera, Bijayalaxmi Sahoo, & Kishore Chandra Patel and chairman of campaign committee Bijay Patnaik.
