Bhubaneswar: Excise department on Sunday issued show-cause notices to 5 dance bars at Cuttack Road following evidence about currency notes being showered at these places in Odisha capital.
The department also plans to raid nightclubs, and pubs in the city, sources said.
This came a day after Commissionerate Police conducted raids on 14 bars and night clubs at different places, including Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Mancheswar and Infocity, and found rampant violation of rules. Most of the bars in Patia and Chandrasekharpur areas were found operating beyond the stipulated time limit.

On October 9, the excise department had issued a show-cause notice to a bar here on the basis of a complaint filed by two bar girls, alleging that the owner had been coercing them into unlawful activities. . It was also asked to deposit CCTV footage of the past one month.
