Bhubaneswar: An Excise Inspector has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance sleuths in Puri while allegedly accepting Rs 18,000 bribe from a man to case diary in a case.
Acting on a complaint, a trap was laid and Sanjaya Kumar Panda of Puri mobile excise squad was caught by Vigilance officials while demanding and accepting Rs 18,000.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from Panda and seized, a Vigilance release said.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being carried out at two locations of Panda from disproportionate assets angle.
In this connection, a case has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused. Detailed report follows.
It may be noted here that Panda had earlier accused his superiors in the department of wrongdoing and subsequently apologised in a video.
