Rourkela: Excise sleuths and Cuttack flying squad on Tuesday raided different hotels in Rourkela and seized illicit liquor worth over Rs 5 lakh.
According to reports, the excise department had received a complaint about seven hotels in the Steel City selling liquor and beer without licence. Accordingly, surprise raids were carried out at these hotels and huge quantities of beer and liquor bottles seized.
“We have information regarding rampant illegal sale of liquor at several other hotels and dhabas, which will be raided in the next phase,” a senior excise official said.
