Bhubaneswar: With the COVID-19 death toll in Odisha rising to 52, the state government on Thursday decided to constitute an expert panel to examine the cause of the deaths.
The decision was taken at a high-powered ministerial meeting presided over by Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari here.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Health and Family Welfare minister Naba Kishore Das said the expert committee will comprise specialist doctors, scientists from the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Drugs Controller and Director Medical Education and Training (DMET).
Apart from examining the cause of the COVID deaths, the committee will also submit a report on the prevention and cure of the disease, Das added.
The minister further said that the AYUSH Director will submit report on the quality and efficacy of the Ayurvedic medicines available in the market.
He informed that the meeting also decided to create awareness on the use of immune system drugs.
