Mumbai: It was eight months ago that Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed she was battling a rare autoimmune disease called Myositis.
The popular actress took a short break before she resumed work. But now that she has wrapped up the Indian chapter of action-thriller ‘Citadel’ with Varun Dhawan and is also completing ‘Kushi’ with Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha may be taking a year-long sabbatical.
According to reports, Samantha will be focusing on her health, and undergo treatment for Myositis in the US.
Hindustan Times quoted sources as saying that Samantha has not been taking up any new project for some time now.
“A few months back, Samantha decided that she will be taking a break from acting, and was just waiting to wrap up her projects — Kushi with Vijay Deverakonda and the Indian segment of Citadel with Varun Dhawan. She had said she was not signing any projects currently,” the source said.
Samantha was reportedly shooting for Kushi when she fell ill. She got preliminary treatment, but now she has to go undergo for the main treatment and therapy sessions, according to the source.
The 36-year-old Samantha is likely to leave for the US in August.
“The break will be for at least a year. She is dealing with an autoimmune disease, which is not simple. There are long treatment and therapy sessions on the card. She will go to the US for the treatment, and is expected to visit South Korea as well for treatment purposes,” the source said.
Despite being a workaholic, Samantha is learnt to be looking forward to the break as she wants to get better in a more holistic way and be fully recovered before resuming work.
