New Delhi: Days after Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on interim bail, the Delhi chief minister was embroiled in a controversy.

The national Capital was abuzz with reports of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP and Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal being assaulted by Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar at the CM’s residence

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that Maliwal on Monday made several calls to police alleging assault by Kumar.

Maliwal, however, hasn’t yet gone on record and lodged a complaint.

It was claimed that Maliwal wanted to meet Kejriwal, but Kumar didn’t allow that and assaulted her.

“We got a shameful news today that after getting instigated by Arvind Kejriwal, his OSD has beaten and misbehaved with their party’s MP Swati Maliwal. She also made a call to Delhi Police and complained regarding the same. The incident took place in the presence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal at his residence. BJP strongly condemns this incident,” BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Delhi Bansuri Swaraj told ANI.

BJP leader and Union minister Anurag Thakur said women are not safe under AAP rule, while Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva condemned the alleged “shameful” incident.

“This is a shameful incident which has happened in the CM’s residence. Arvind Kejriwal’s residence has always been in the headlines for similar incidents. Delhi’s former chief secretary was also assaulted in the CM’s residence… Investigation to find out the truth will be carried out by the police. Swati Maliwal is known to raise issues of Delhi from time to time. I am sure she will not sit quietly in this matter and people will know what a disgusting person lives in the CM’s residence,” Sachdeva told media.

Maliwal reportedly made PCR calls twice from the chief minister’s residence, alleging that she was assaulted by Kejriwal’s assistant Kumar, media reported quoting Delhi Police sources.

“A PCR call was received around 9.34 in the morning, in which the lady caller said that she was assaulted inside the CM house. Then the SHO of local police responded to the call and reached the spot. After some time, MP madam (Maliwal) visited the Civil Lines police station. However, she left soon after saying she would file a complaint later. Till now, we have not received any written complaint in this matter,”  DCP (North) Manoj Meena told ANI.
