Bhubaneswar: An image showing pop superstar Rihanna supposedly holding a Pakistani flag has gone viral on social media after her comments on supporting farmers’ protests in India.
The image is a year old and is of Rihanna holding a flag at a match in the British town of Chester-le-Street during the 2019 World Cup. However, the flag is that of Cricket West Indies (CWI) flag and not of Pakistan.
The viral image is a doctored one published on Facebook on February 3.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) had tweeted the original photo during West Indies vs Sri Lanka during the cricket World Cup on July 1, 2019.
Rihanna and many other Western celebrities have faced criticism on social media for siding with the farmers’ protest in India. Actor Kangana Ranaut called her a “fool” and termed the protesters as “terrorists”.
