Kyiv: No one has had more TV time than Volodymyr Zelensky over the past one month.
He has led from the front in Ukraine’s brave effort of defending itself against the Russian invasion.
Now, the Ukrainian President may be seen during the Oscars 2022 gala on Sunday.
Zelensky has been in talks with Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to make a video appearance during Sunday’s telecast of the Academy Awards, The New York Post reported.
Zelensky, himself a former actor, may appear either via live broadcast or a taped message.
Though The Academy has not responded to the report, its officials were debating on whether Zelensky will be given the go-ahead to appear briefly on the show, according to sources. The principal consideration was whether the Oscars should remain apolitical at a time when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has entered the second month.
Ukrainian-born actress Mila Kunis, who raised $35 million with her husband Ashton Kutcher for the Ukrainian refugees, is likely to make a statement during the globally watched awards show.
Indian viewers can watch Oscars 2022 live from 5 am on Monday on Star Movies, Star Movies Select HD, Star Movies HD, Star World, Star World Premiere HD and Star World HD.
