Mumbai: Days after the media reported that she had been murdered by her son, veteran actress Veena Kapoor clarified that she is very much alive.
Veena and her son filed an FIR at a Mumbai police station against those who had spread the rumour.
As it turns out, one Veena Kapoor was killed, but it was not the actress.
“This is false news. The truth is that there was a Veena Kapoor who has been murdered. But I am not that Veena Kapoor.. I’m a different person. The name is the same but I stay here in Goregaon, not Juhu. I also stay with my son, so that’s why people thought that this was me,” Veena said in a video shared by ANI.
“I want to tell everyone that I’m alive, well, and not dead. Don’t believe in fake news,” the 74-year-old actress asserted.
Speaking about the ordeal they were made to go through, Veena said they had to file a police complaint.
“If we didn’t complain, the same thing would be repeated with others also. The mental torture that we are going through with repeated calls, day and night, even while shooting, ruins the mood. I’m unable to focus on work,” added Veena.
Her son thanked the police.
“I was numb and blank… We have filed an FIR. The police supported us really well. I appreciate it from my heart. The way they have helped us when we came to file the complaint, salute to Mumbai Police,” he said.
Veena, who has worked in several TV shows and movies, was reported to have been killed by her son who allegedly hit her on the head repeatedly with a baseball bat and later dumped her body in a river.
