Balasore: A suspected fake doctor was caught while allegedly prescribing medicines to patients at the medicine ward of Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Balasore on Monday.
Suspecting him to a imposter, the staff of the medical college informed the security guard this morning. He, however, got into an argument with them when questioned about his credentials, sources said.
On being informed, police reached the spot and took the alleged fake doctor, Ajay Bhanja, into custody for questioning. Staff of the medical college are also being questioned with regards to the incident.
While refuting the allegation, the accused identified himself as a medical representative. “I had brought my 80-year-old for medical check-up and some tests to the hospital. Since the lift was not working and the condition of my father was worsening, I wrote down some tests on the outdoor ticket. When the medical staff objected to it, I accepted the mistake and asked them to get me another ticket,” he told the media.
A police officer said that he had accepted to have written down the tests on the outdoor ticket because of the hospital was crowded.
