Balangir: A man, who was allegedly running an illegal clinic posing as a doctor in Odisha’s Balangir district, has been arrested following complaints from many people.
The accused has been identified as Palasa Biswas, reported to be a native of West Bengal. He was illegally operating a private clinic in Sindhekela under Bangomunda Block in Balangir district.
Sources said Biswas was running the clinic for years before some of his activities created doubt in the minds of people. Several locals lodged complaints in this connection.
Based on the complaints, a team from Titlagarh and Balangir visited the clinic and conducted a raid on the premises.
The search team found evidence against Biswas and came to know that he was not a doctor. After preliminary inquiry, he was arrested in the presence of SDPO.
A case has been registered under Odisha Clinical Act and National Medical Commission Act. Further details are awaited in this connection and investigation is in progress.
