Bhubaneswar: Amid reports of fake doctors working in hospitals often surfacing, the Odisha government on Monday ordered verification of credentials of doctors and specialists engaged in different PPP services in the state.
A communication in this regard has been sent by Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Shalini Pandit to all CDM & PHO-cum-District Mission Directors and Directors of Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH).
The letter stated that various services like dialysis, CT Scan, MRI, laboratory services, and PHC/UPHC management are operational in districts in PPP mode. The contract documents of these services are shared with the districts for proper monitoring and payment.
Stating that the service providers of the respective PPP services have deployed doctors/specialists as per the scope of the contract, it said it is the responsibility of respective service providers to deploy the doctors/paramedics with required qualification.
“However, the credential of these personnel (doctors/specialists) deployed need to be thoroughly checked from time to time during the tenure of the contract to ensure that appropriate qualified personnel are engaged to provide the respective services,” it said.
In view of these, all CDM & PHOs and Directors have been instructed to check the credential of the doctors and specialists engaged by the agency in PPP services and compliance may be submitted to the department within a week, the letter said.
It said the doctors and specialists have to be present physically along with the credential documents before the CDM& PHO and Director of the health institution concerned during the verification process.
The move comes in the wake of an imposter was found working as a doctor in the dialysis unit of the government-run RGH in Rourkela recently. Similar cases had also come to light earlier in the state.
