Koraput: Police have busted a fake employment racket and arrested 5 persons in the district for duping around 70 persons on plea of providing them jobs in reputed companies.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Sunabeda SDPO Manoj Kumar Behera said following a complaint filed at Damanjodi police station about the fake job racket, the district police formed three teams for investigation.
The three teams led by Sunabeda IIC, Damanjodi IIC and Similiguda IIC could know about the racket during the investigation and conducted raid on a hotel in Sunabeda on Sunday. During the raid, the police arrested 5 persons and seized incriminating materials from their possesion.
The arrested persons are Sushil Kumar Chaudhury and Sunial Kumar Chaudhury from Rayagada and Sanotsh Kumar Baral, Kamal Mohanty and Abhimanyu Mishra from Bhubaneswar. Fake gate pass, appointment letters, a computer, a laptop, a printer, different forms and Rs 21,000 in cash were seized from their possession during the raid.
The SDPO said the three accused from Bhubaneswar along with their two accomplices from Rayagada were staying in a hotel room and running their racket from there. They have duped around 7o job aspirants from across the district.
By promising the youths of providing them jobs in reputed companies like Nalco and HAL, the racketeers used to take Rs 30,000-40,000 from each of them on different pleas. The police have also seized stamps, visiting cards and appointment letters of 17 reputed companies from the hotel room, the SDPO said.
