Cuttack: The laboratory test has confirmed that the Telma-40 tablets, seized from medicine shops during raids in Odisha’s Cuttack, are duplicate.
Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said the blood pressure medicine Telma-40 supplied by Puja Enterprises and VR Drug Agencies having wholesale points in Manik Ghosh Bazaar in the city were sent for laboratory test.
The test reports have confirmed that the tablets were not trademark drugs as those did not have the chemical composition of Telma-40 produced by reputed pharmaceutical company Glenmark, he added.
More information about the racket was unravelled during interrogation of the accused, he said, but refused to divulge any details.
The DCP further said Rs 12 lakh more have been seized from bank accounts of the two distributors, Sanjay Jalal, the owner of Puja Enterprises and Rahul Syal of VR Drug Agencies. Earlier, Rs 28 lakh in the bank accounts of the two accused were seized.
“We have collected many crucial data from the document seized during the raids to unearth fake medicine racket. The investigation is going on to get more details,” he added.
Police arrested Sanjay and Rahul on September 13. The sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court in Cuttack on Thursday allowed Commissionerate Police to take them on a two-day remand for questioning.
