‘Fake Teacher’ Teaches In Primary School For 8 Yrs In Odisha’s Balangir
Balangir: A ‘fake teacher’ has been reportedly teaching at a primary school in Odisha’s Balangir district without the knowledge of block education authorities. The matter came to light after a student was beaten up by the lady ‘teacher’ during school hours.
According to sources, Khirabdi Nanaya, the ‘teacher’ of primary school at Ichhapada under Balangir Sadar block beat up the Class IV student on Monday. Though the student did not say anything about it to her parents the same day, she could not bear it when Khirabdi beat her up again the following day and revealed it to her family.
The student’s parents complained to headmistress of the school, Pushparani Padhi, against Khirabdi. On being informed, assistant block education officer (ABEO) Uttam Kumar Nayak and member of child welfare committee came to school to look into the matter.
“Khirabdi had been appointed by an NGO. She was taking classes in absence of other teachers,” said the headmistress. But the ABEO said Khirabdi was not appointed by any authorities. She is a fake teacher, he added.
The student’s parents pointed out that Khirabdi has been teaching in the school for 8 years.
On contacted, CWC chairman Jogeswar Mohanty said they had launched an investigation into the matter and stern action would be taken against the fake teacher and those responsible for her appointment.
Meanwhile, Khirabdi has stopped coming to the school for the last two days and her whereabouts have not been ascertained.
