Nuapada: A farmer died following electrocution while working in the field at a village in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Monday.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Gogaphula village under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station in the district in the afternoon.
The farmer, identified as Topalal Sahu, was working in the paddy field when he accidentally came in contact with an 11 KV wire. He was reported to have died on the spot.
As he did not return home in time, his family members got worried and went to the field looking for him. He was shocked to find his father lying lifeless in the field.
On being informed about the incident, a team of police personnel rushed to the site and initiated a probe.
The villagers have held the power distribution company responsible for the tragic incident and demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
