Khurda: A fire broke out at a refiled edible oil factory in Baghamari area of Odisha’s Khurda district on Thursday, destroying equipment and other materials. No injury to anyone was reported due to the incident and factory workers are stated to be safe.
As per preliminary information, the fire erupted in the factory located at Sarua industrial area under the jurisdiction of Baghamari police station in the afternoon. As soon as thick smoke was noticed in the godown and office of the factory, all workers and employees moved out of the complex as a precautionary step.
On being informed, fire services personnel rushed to the site to extinguish the blaze. At least three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flame. Sources said more firefighters would be engaged in the operation, if necessary.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, electric short circuit was suspected to have triggered the incident. Further details are awaited.
