Berhampur: Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were gutted as a major fire erupted in a garment shop located at Giri Market in Berhampur on Tuesday.
The fire engulfed the entire shop in no time and destroyed clothes, saris, furniture and several other valuables.
Soon after being informed, two fire tenders rushed to the spot. The blaze could come under control only after an hour.
Though the exact cause is yet to be determined, short circuit may have likely triggered the fire.
On February 4, a major fire in a garment shop in Cuttack had raised serious questions on the fire safety measures adopted by shopping malls
