Cuttack: A major fire broke out at a garment shop at Choudhury Bazar in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Friday morning.
According to sources, the fire engulfed the ground floor of the shop and later spread to the upper floors.
On being informed, fire Service personnel reached the place and it took 9 teams over four hours to douse the flames. While the fire on the ground floor was brought under control, the fire fighters were unable to enter the building due to heavy smoke. To reduce the smoke, the glass windowpanes were broken which helped to extinguish the blaze.
Though no one was injured, property worth lakhs of rupees has been reduced to ashes in the inferno, the cause of which is yet to be ascertained.
