Bhubaneswar: First edition of ‘Srimati Bhubaneswari’ was inaugurated at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. As many as 50 participants took part in two categories of the competition-classical dance and fashion show.
Inaugurating the event Editor, Kadambini, Iti Samanta said, “It is a great initiative which would give a platform for the women to showcase their talent. The event would be an example to empower women across the country”.
After the rounds of competition, the participants faced a questionnaire round. The top-10 contestants were finalised, who will be taking part in the finale which will be held a month later.
“For those who couldn’t participate, we have plans to conduct it in some other cities which will be announced soon,” said Ambika Moharana.
Fashion photographer Dillip Dhirsamanta, director Keshab Mallick, social activist Sandhya Patnaik, Guru Gajendra Panda and Sangeeta Panda judged the competition.
Organised by Bhubanswar based Ambika Foundation, the event was sponsored by Boyonika in association with Inner Wheel Club and Creative Eye.
