Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Odisha scheduled for next year, the first level checking of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines began at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in the state capital here on Friday.
All the districts collectors, representatives of all political parties and two senior officials of the Election Commission are attending the programme on the instruction of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Surendra Kumar
The two EC officials will impart training to the collectors on the use of EVM and VVPAT machines.
Later, the first level checking of these machines will continue for two months in all the booths in the districts where booth-level officers will be imparted training.
VVPAT was used in for the first time in Odisha during the previous by-election.
On Thursday, the CEO had a meeting with representatives of all the political parties in connection with the electoral roll revision, which will begin in Odisha from September 1.
