Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated five more government COVID hospitals on Monday. They are in Sundargarh, Bargarh, Angul, Jagatsinghpur and Nabarangpur.
Union Steel, Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Coal, Mining, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Odisha Health minister Naba Das joined in through video conference.
The Chief Minister while interacting with the doctors and health workers said that it is a war we have to win. He also praised the district administrations for setting up of these hospitals.
The five hospitals have a total bed strength of 825. With this, the state’s dedicated COVID hospitals are now functional in 26 districts with 5000 beds.
The COVID hospital in Angul (150 beds) will be managed by SUM Hospital, Bhubaneswar and supported by MCL, while the hospital (200 beds) in Bargarh will be managed by Vikash Multispecialty hospital and supported by IOCL.
Besides, the COVID hospital at Sundargarh (200 beds) will be managed by the district administration through the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) with the support of NTPC while the hospital at Paradip (75 beds) will be managed by the district administration with support from the state government and Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and another hospital in Nabarangpur (200 beds) will be managed by the district administration and the Christian Hospital with the support of NALCO.
