Jeypore: The much-awaited flight services to Jeypore airstrip in Odisha’s Koraput district are set to get operational from June this year. The good news comes following the visit of a five-member team to the site on Wednesday morning.
After an inspection, the team of experts led by Regional Director of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), KK Jha took a special flight to the site from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).
The team reviewed security arrangements at the airstrip and held discussions with Sub-Collector Bedabara Pradhan and SP Varun Guntupalli regarding the requirements to commence the services.
Once it gets operational, Jeypore will become the third place in the state to get an airport after Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda. The runway hass been expanded to 2,300 metre to start commercial flight services.
