Bhubaneswar: A direct flight between Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar and Sri Lankan capital Colombo is likely to be launched soon.
Sri Lanka’s national carrier is planning to operate flight services between Bhubaneswar and Colombo, according to regional manager of Sri Lankan Airlines for India, Bangladesh and Nepal, V Ravindran.
Stating that Sri Lanka is now recovering from economic crisis, he said the Sri Lankan Airlines was looking forward to add more destinations especially in India.
Before Covid pandemic, Sri Lankan Airlines was operating flight services in 11 destinations in India. Currently, it is operating flights to nine destinations — Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Trivandrum, Chennai, Madurai and Trichy.
He said that Ahmedabad, Calicut and Goa are also in their plans. The Lankan carrier was also looking at Odisha and other lucrative markets.
